Over the summer of 2000 Menlo College implemented enterprise wide Internet Protocol (IP) Telephony (Voice over Internet Protocol [VoIP]). More than five years have passed, and analysts are predicting that in the near future the only available Private Branch Exchange (PBX) solutions will be VoIP . In view of this market trend, the diffusion of this technology in these institutions seems slow. The Menlo College implementation is very successful, but has the concept diffused to other institutions? What factors influence the diffusion of this technology to other institutions? This paper examines the status of VoIP at these institutions.
