Issues in Component-Based Development: Towards Specification with ADLs
Rafael González, Miguel Torres
Software development has been coupled with time and cost problems through history. This has motivated the search for flexible, trustworthy and time and cost-efficient development. In order to achieve this, software reuse appears fundamental and component-based development, the way towards reuse. This paper discusses the present state of component-based development and some of its critical issues for success, such as: the existence of adequate repositories, component integration within a software architecture and an adequate specification. This paper suggests ADLs (Architecture Description Languages) as a possible means for this specification. Full Text
